Uptime alerts in Discord

Send down and recovery messages to a Discord channel through a channel webhook, with no bot to run.

Set it up

In Discord, open the server settings (or the channel's settings), then Integrations, then Webhooks.
Create a webhook, pick the channel it posts to and copy the webhook URL.
In OpenUptime, open Alerting, choose Add channel and pick Discord.
Name the channel and paste the URL, which starts with https://discord.com/api/webhooks/.
Save, then press Test: a test message arrives within seconds, and the delivery log below the channels shows whether it went through.

When a monitor goes down

When it recovers

Mentions in the text are switched off, so a monitor name can never ping @everyone.
Messages longer than Discord's 2,000-character limit are shortened rather than rejected.

Every channel is available on every plan, Free included.
Choose per monitor which channels it alerts, or turn a channel on for every new monitor.
Until someone acknowledges an incident, it can repeat on the mobile app (up to 10 times, by email too if you choose) and escalate to other channels in up to 3 levels.
A failed delivery is retried, and the delivery log shows what was sent to which channel and why anything failed.

Add a monitor, connect the channel and press Test. The Free plan includes every alert channel.

Do I need to add a bot to my server?

No. A channel webhook is enough, and you need the Manage Webhooks permission to create one.

Can I send alerts to a thread or forum?

A webhook posts to the channel it was created for. Create the webhook on the channel where the alerts should appear.
